Too much of nothing...

Too much of nothing...

Let's face it, there's just too much shit out there.

And that sounds horribly negative, maybe defeatist, and entirely desperate. Like, why would I take such an immediately controversial position when I'm trying to be an inspirational and motivational educator myself?

And when I say too much information, you have to understand what I mean. I don't mean that the information is attacking you while you're sitting in your chair, sipping your coffee, scrolling through Instagram, minding your own business. I don't mean that someone's knocking on your door and assaulting you with knowledge and information and "teaching". I don't mean that when you're laying in bed at night sleeping, someone wakes you up and says, "Hey, learn this shit, buddy."

No, you're out there looking for it. You're out there being attacked by it. You're out there exposing yourself to it.

Yeah, you can scroll on Instagram to find images that inspire you and talk to your friends, but you can also doomscroll, as they call it, right? And you can just constantly be hit with every new idea from every goddamn photography and retouching account that you followed to try allegedly try to learn from.

And in your mind, this is a benefit. This is how you learn. This is how you advance. And maybe some shit actually made solid sense one day.  Cool.

But you're drowning in too much.

And this is why I always say, look, if you can really find who motivates you, what motivates you, what you connect with, regardless of their social stature, regardless of their industry position, who motivates you? What do you really feel connected to?

Whoever that person is, whatever that group is, whatever that concept is, focus on that. Let it be absorbed into you. Process it, metabolize it, run with it. And then find something else. Maybe a couple of things at the same time.

But don't pretend that 10,000 units of input coming into your brain constantly, all day, is how you get better.

Practicing is something that you do very deliberately. Learning is something that you do subconsciously, but can also be done deliberately.

Too much is too much.

I encourage you to find what connects and absorb every drop of it. And then make it your own and explode.
