Vamos otra vez. 🇵🇷

We're heading back to Puerto Rico for round three.

On December 12, Nino Batista and Briana Noir return to Photographika Studios in San Juan for a hands-on day focused on something that sounds simple, but really isn't:

How do you take studio portraiture beyond "good lighting + good model = good photo" and make something intentional, polished, and editorial?

That's what we're getting into.

This isn't a workshop built around memorizing lighting diagrams, copying somebody else's setup, or teaching you how to make photographs that look exactly like ours. We're much more interested in helping you understand why you're making creative decisions and how all those individual decisions work together to create the final image.

We'll work through lighting and modifiers, contrast, styling, composition, posing, movement, expression, direction, and photographer/model communication. But all of those things are pieces of a larger idea.

The goal is to give you a stronger foundation for making your own work.

And sí, claro, you're shooting too.

This is hands-on, casual, collaborative, and open to photographers of all experience levels. Bring your camera, bring your questions, bring your curiosity, and bring some ganas de crear. We'll take it from there.

Nino + Briana

Nino approaches the day from the photographer's side of the camera, working through lighting, composition, technical decisions, visual intention, and how all of those choices support the image you're trying to create.

Briana brings the perspective of a professional model, creative collaborator, and educator, with a focus on posing, movement, expression, body awareness, communication, styling, and what actually happens between photographer and subject when you're trying to create something together.

Those two perspectives are a huge part of how we teach.

Because great portraiture isn't just about what happens behind the camera. It's about what happens on both sides of it.
